Kansas City Downtown Adventure

Wichita is commonly described as a western type of town and has lots of great restaurants, museums, spas, shopping, nightlife, and much more for a perfect Downtown City Adventure on your Kansas road trip.  While in town you may want to check out Barleycorn's on W. Douglas because it is the happening spot to see live music.  Dark Moon Productions on McLean Blvd. is a haunted attraction that is open around Halloween and is always a great time.  However, no Kansas road trip is complete without stopping at the Diamond W Chuckwagon Supper because if features hilarious comedy, live music, and all you can eat famous Kansas BBQ!

Kansas City is perfect for your downtown city adventure and if you can get a great deal on a hotel then you might as well begin planning your Kansas road trip immediately.  If your into professional sports then your in luck because you can check out the Kansas City Royals or the NFL's Chiefs.  There are casinos, amazing restaurants, museums, parks, and much more.  Kansas City offers lots of free activities for you to enjoy such as a tour of Boulevard Brewing Co., the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, or taking your kids to the Penguin Park.  Begin planning your Kansas City adventure at this great website.

 

 

National Parks in Kansas are primarily hiking trails that cross the country such as the Oregon Trail, Santa Fe, Pony Express, etc.   However you may want to take the 1.5 hour bus ride through Tallgrass Prairie Park in Strong City and enjoy some fishing on a relaxing afternoon.

Outdoor Festivals are pretty common in Kansas and you can easily tie one of them into your road trip adventure.  Wichita is home to the "Wichita River Festival" and that is a great activity for the entire family.

Wineries in Kansas attract thousands of visitors each year and the various wines that they produce are world-class.  They use locally grown grapes and fruits and produce over 50,000 gallons of wine each year.  These wineries rival the Finger Lakes wineries in New York and California's Napa Valley.

Horse Tracks

Anthony Downs in Anthony has a race every fifteen minutes and will alternate between horse and greyhound races.  This gives you lots of great betting opportunities while sitting in the wide open grand stands.

Eureka Downs is located in Eureka and is worth a visit to check out a race or two.

Woodlands Race Tracks is located in Kansas City and features horse and dog racing.  There is plenty of excellent parking for your RV and shuttle busses to get you up close to the action quickly.

 

Theme Park

Joyland which is located in Wichita and is a family oriented park with bumper cars, water rides, and lots of great thrill rides.  However if your craving the monster roller coasters found at Cedar Point or Busch Gardens then you are going to be disappointed.
