Michigan Road Trip

A Michigan road trip is perfect if you love being around the water. No matter where you are in the entire state, you can walk in any direction less than one mile and you will come across water of some sort. Michigan is loaded with lakes and tons of outdoor recreation, and in the summer it is an absolute blast if you are in the Isle Royale area or Keweenaw. Detroit offers lots of professional sports teams, great restaurants, and shopping so you can plan a spontaneous trip to the city.

Detroit is often referred to as the "Big D" and is a destination where you can have an inexpensive downtown city adventure. National Parks
are generally located around bodies of water in Michigan and offer great camping and outdoor activities for your Michigan road trip. Sleeping Bear Dunes is a fantastic vacation because you will be miles from civilization and you will enjoy an amazing sense of relaxation and escape from the daily grind.
Outdoor Festivals
are quite common in Detroit and in Ann Arbor during the summer months. In the winter the snow flies feverishly in Michigan so people are either out hitting the trails on their cross-country skis or indoors.
Wineries
are found throughout the state because Michigan is able to grow over 50 varieties of grapes due to the location next to the Great Lakes. The varieties you will find in these wines will be an unexpected pleasure you will rave about.
Horse Tracks
Hazel Park features live harness racing during the summer season but also offers live simulcast racing 362 days each year. The track is considered one of Detroit's hottest nightspots and has been in operation since 1953.

Theme Parks
Deer Acres Storybook Park in Pinconning features a full arcade, train ride, Ferris wheel, bumper boats, mini golf, laser tag, and much more for the entire family. This is an excellent way to get some quality family time at a great cost.
Deer Forest Fun Park in Coloma has a petting zoo and pony rides. This is a perfect outing for the young troopers that are in your Michigan road trip team.
Michigan's Adventure in Muskegon offers a great variety of water rides and fantastic roller coasters. This park is a true gem for any thrill seeking roller coaster enthusiast.
